Whether you’re looking for a source to use on your next paper or simply want a quiet place to study, the Frohring Library is always there to help students at John Cabot University find what they need.
Located at our Guarini Campus, the Frohring Library offers a unique learning environment to all members of our community, from our students and staff to faculty and authorized guests. Although libraries may typically be known for their collections more than anything else, there are a variety of additional resources you can discover at the Frohring Library to enrich your learning experience and broaden your horizons during your time abroad.
Use the Library Collection to Your Advantage When You Study Abroad at JCU
Before you arrive to study abroad in Italy, you want to be sure that you will have access to the materials and resources you need to succeed in your academic studies. Our collection at the Frohring Library boasts more than 32,000 books and multimedia items, giving you access to one of the best academic English-language collections in Rome. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on the shelves or want to do some on-the-go studying, our online database houses everything from journals to e-books and reference tools, and is available 24/7, even off-campus.
Interlibrary Loan Services are also available so you can borrow available materials from our partnerships with other libraries, and requests can be placed directly online in the JCU Discovery portal or even by email. If you have a question about the process or need support, our library staff is there to help you. The library staff will notify you when your items have been delivered to the Welcome Desk.
Go Behind the Stacks with an Inside Look at the History of the Frohring Library
In order to better serve our students, the library was expanded after 1999 thanks to the generous support of the Paul and Maxine Frohring Foundation. The library now includes five reading rooms with seating for over a hundred people, three private study rooms, and a library lab.
In 2013, JCU gave the Frohring Library a modern makeover with the inauguration of the new Aurelian wing. Designed by architects Carlo Vigevano and Cinzia Abbate, the Aurelian wing blends traditional and contemporary design with modern furniture, exposed-beam ceilings, and arched windows that offer a perfect view of the Lemon Tree Courtyard. The wing also includes five workstations complete with high-speed computers that can help you locate the resources you need, from books in the collection to conducting research online.
Boost Your Academic Research Skills with Workshops at the Frohring Library
When you visit the library, you can access many resources beyond what you find on the shelves. From learning about MLA or APA citation to paper formatting, bibliographies, and more, the library hosts a variety of workshops to help give your academic skills a boost while you study abroad. Past workshops have also included sessions on international business and marketing as well as how to use a thesis template.
Additionally, the library opened its new Learning Hall in 2017, which includes a seminar room that hosts lectures, talks, and screenings. The library is also home to the 4m2 Gallery, a small art space curated by the Art History Society that features contemporary art as well as an online gallery.
