## Study Abroad in Rome

![Study Abroad Rome,How to Study Abroad in Rome, American universities in Italy, teatro di Marcello, how to apply to John cabot university, ](https://blog.johncabot.edu/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Study-Abroad-Ruins-300x199.jpeg?width=300&height=199&name=Study-Abroad-Ruins-300x199.jpeg "Study Abroad Rome")For many college students, studying abroad seems like a dream. They wish to travel the world and experience life in another culture, but it seems like a far-fetched idea. For others, they have the opportunity but don't want to miss out on their college life back home, and figuring out all of the details just seems too complicated. Luckily, making the choice to [study abroad in Rome](https://www.johncabot.edu/admissions/study-abroad-rome-italy/default.aspx) at [John Cabot University](https://www.johncabot.edu/) is easy, quick, and rewarding.

Spending a semester abroad at JCU means spending a semester soaking up the [history of Italy](https://admissions.johncabot.edu/academics/top-5-sites-rome-art-history-majors/) and bonding with other students from all around the United States and other parts of the globe. It means living independently, traveling around Europe, all while receiving a world-class education from excellent [professors](https://admissions.johncabot.edu/academics/make-jcu-professors/). Attending John Cabot is more than just a study abroad experience; it is a unique, global lifestyle that will give you memories to be cherished for the rest of your life.

## How Do I Apply?

You can apply to study abroad at John Cabot in four easy steps:

1. Complete an [application form](https://www.johncabot.edu/admissions/study-abroad-rome-italy/application_web.pdf)
2. Pay the $50/€50 application fee (only US and Canadian citizens may pay in US dollars)
3. Submit an official transcript from your current university (transcripts not in English or Italian must be accompanied by a certified English language translation)
4. Show evidence of [English language proficiency](https://www.johncabot.edu/admissions/undergraduate/evidence-of-english-language-proficiency.aspx) (only for students who have studied in an English-language institution for fewer than two years)

## Check With Your Home University

Be sure to check with your home university's study abroad office before applying. You should ensure that you are following their procedures before beginning any of the paperwork. If you would like to satisfy graduation requirements by transferring credits earned at JCU, please consult with your academic adviser to choose your courses prior to departure.

You can study abroad in Fall, Spring, Summer I, or Summer II. It's also possible to study abroad for two consecutive semesters or summer sessions. Make sure you check out our [application deadlines](https://www.johncabot.edu/admissions/study-abroad-rome-italy/how-to-apply.aspx) for each semester.  After submitting your application, you will receive an email from your admissions counselor with an admissions decision.

Once the application process is done... it's time to start the adventure!
