You know that old proverb, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?” Well, as cliché as it may sound, it does still ring true. By participating in some of the diverse  clubs and activities that John Cabot University has to offer, you’ll enrich your studies with a wealth of memorable cultural experiences.. Whether you’re earning your degree or studying abroad at our university in Rome, you’ll find there is an incredible melting pot of cultures to explore and the options for extra-curricular activities are seemingly endless.

Clubs and Societies

Joining a club is not only an excellent way to meet people who share the same interests as you, but it also gives you a chance to put your passion and creativity to work on something other than school work. John Cabot University offers a wide array of clubs and organizations, all with their own unique charm.

Love to write? Why not join the Matthew, John Cabot University’s student run newspaper? Published online and in print, it gives the student body a voice and a platform for expression.

Or maybe you’d like to step into the ring in the fight for equality? The LGBT-Straight Alliance club helps to foster an understanding and supportive environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students at John Cabot University. The alliance is open to all students, regardless of sexual identification and serves as a way to promote acceptance and understanding.

Athletics

Perhaps you’re more of an active sort of person? John Cabot University plays host to dozens of recreational programs, with a diverse array of sports to choose from - everything from traditional sports like soccer, basketball and volleyball to more specialized athletic activities like yoga, aikido and cricket.

One of the advantages of study in Italy is the breathtaking natural surroundings in the nearby countryside. John Cabot University offers incredible excursions to various regions, such as a forest trip, in which students can  hike through the mountains of Montereale in the Abruzzo region and explore the stunning Patrignone forest that some claim to be enchanted. There is also the opportunity to take an adventurous trip on the high seas, where you can be part of a sailing crew as you navigate the sparkling Mediterranean waters, replicating voyages from the past.

Community

Sometimes it just feels good to give back to the community, and when you study abroad volunteer work gives you an opportunity to better understand the culture, and foster a deeper relationship with the locals. The John Cabot University Community Service Program offers a vast selection of volunteer opportunities. Not only will you contribute to the greater good and give back to the community, but it will look amazing on a resume as well.

Whether it’s shooting hoops, getting that big scoop or hiking the beautiful mountains near Rome, John Cabot University can provide you with rewarding and fun ways to get culturally involved.
