The Benefits of Being Part of JCU's 10,000+ Member Alumni Network

October 17, 2019

There is a strong sense of community at John Cabot University and in our Alumni Association. All students who study at our university are counted as part of our network of alumni—which comprises over 10,000 professionals—regardless of whether they spent their full degree, a summer, or a single semester abroad on campus. Alumni cardholders have access to campus resources at the Frohring Library and the computer labs. In addition, alumni reunions also offer a fun time to reconnect with your past classmates and friends from university.

Read on to learn a little more about the benefits of joining our Alumni Association!

Career Advantages for JCU Alumni

Our Career Services aims to offer lifelong resources and assistance to past students who are pursuing their professional ambitions. No matter what stage of your career you are in, these services can support and encourage you along the way. The Center for Career Services counsels and assists in career development for alumni, with multiple events, seminars, and workshops held to boost your professional skills, such as workshops on making a LinkedIn profile or getting ready for an interview.

Alumni can also receive updates from our daily ‘Jobs of the Day’ newsletter, with opportunities to apply for internships and jobs. Even though this newsletter comes from our American University in Italy, it features opportunities from partner organizations both in Italy and abroad in other locations. Since this isn’t contained to the area where you studied, it’s a useful tool for international students even after returning home.

JCU students can feel confident with the career support they will receive after finishing their studies

Benefit from a Global Network

One of the truly enriching aspects of studying abroad is the opportunity to meet other students from all over the world. JCU students come from over 80 countries, which means that during your studies you’ll be able to develop a truly global network.

Our Alumni Association, with its 10,000 members, further expands this network. Such a global network offers many benefits to graduates, whether they are just beginning their career or are established professionals. An international network can help to open opportunities abroad, whether you want to work in another country or simply expand your company’s reach into other markets. It also helps to foster the exchange of different ideas and perspectives, paving the way to greater innovation and creativity.

Drop in on Alumni Events at JCU

Alumni Reunions give you a chance to visit and reconnect with your community. If you were a study abroad student, there’s no better reason to make a trip to Italy—you’ll be treated to a memorable experience. Beginning with a welcome aperitivo, the 2019 reunion featured forums on entrepreneurship, virtual reality & gamification, writing, and mechanical reproduction. A horseback riding tour on the Appia Antica gave alumni a ride they won’t forget, passing by landmarks and monuments in Rome. Of course, even for those who aren’t able to make the trip to Italy, there are still many opportunities to reconnect, with periodic alumni events organized in different parts of the world.

Participating in reunion events is your opportunity to enjoy interesting discussions and activities, as well as touch base with your campus community. Our community is one of the things that makes our school so special, and it will surely be on your mind from time to time after moving on. As a member of our warm, welcoming alumni community, you’ll never feel too far away.
