With many opportunities both on and off campus to explore, it can seem like there is a lot to choose from. To get as much as you can out of your semester, use these tips to dive in. You may find that you leave with more memories, friendships, and lessons than you ever thought possible in just one semester!

1. Make a Bucket List
A great way to hit the ground running when you arrive in Rome is to bring a bucket list with you. This list might change as you progress in your exploration and studies, but will still act as a great jumping-off point.
Maybe you always dreamed of visiting a particular landmark in Rome, or perhaps you’d like to try your Italian language skills in different scenarios. You might anticipate experiences that are exciting and important to you, in addition to the unique classes and activities you partake in on campus. Writing down your goals is an great way to help them come to fruition. 3. Immerse Yourself in Local Culture and Your Studies
To have an optimal experience studying abroad, striking a balance between immersion in your new environment and your studies can benefit you greatly. During the week, engage in your classes on campus and take advantage of the world-class education you will receive at JCU. On the weekends, go out and explore Rome to broaden your cultural horizons. You may discover that while abroad, your experience can lead you to a newfound passion or interest. 4. Take Advantage of Activities and Trips
The activities and trips available at JCU are created to challenge, educate, and inspire students. Whether you join a sports team or take attend a weekend trip outside of Rome, there are so many ways to get involved on campus and enjoy the school spirit at JCU that you can take home after your study abroad experience is over!
Trips let you see another side of Italy by touring sites like the Amalfi Coast, or learning new skills like how to make pizza! Invite a friend to join or make some new friends along the way. Including yourself in day trips and weekend excursions gives you hands-on learning experiences, blending unique activities in with your education.
