The group was first founded in the 1920s by an Italian engineer by the name of Sante Astaldi. His company was an important player in the construction of railways throughout the country, as well as in the post-war reconstruction efforts following the Second World War. During the second half of the 20th century, the business started to aim at international renown, expanding into Central Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, and the Americas. Multinational Luxury Brand Bulgari

Bulgari is a recognizable international brand today, but the Italian company has a lengthy, interesting history. It was founded in Rome in 1884 by an immigrant from Greece by the name of Sotirio Bulgari, a skillful silversmith. It was originally a family business run by Sotirio and his two sons, operating out of the Via Sistina street in central Rome.

The secret to Bulgari’s success is how the brand managed to reflect the culture of the times and constantly update its aims and intentions. Initially, the store became well-known for its incorporation of distinctive French styles with Rome motifs. During the 1920s, the brand used Art Deco designs, and into the 1950s, it incorporated well-received vividly colored gems and charismatic, extravagant designs. By the 1970s, the brand was expanding into Europe and the United States. Today, the international brand is headquartered in Lungotevere Marzio in Rome, where JCU students can visit the store and look at its jewelry, watches, fragrances, and accessories.

Telecom Italia Telecommunications Company

Rome is a significant European city for telecommunications companies, and Telecom Italia is an important part of this designation. The company was created in 1994 by the union of several different state-owned telecommunications companies, such as Iritel, Italcable, and Telespazio. Today, it is the largest in Italy in terms of both revenue and clients.

The company is an important part of the Italian economy, employing over 50,000 employees, and bringing in a revenue of nearly 18 billion dollars according to 2019’s reports. Its significance is generated in part by the reliability of its services and recognition of its brand image, and in part by its commitment to sustainability and environmental initiatives.
