JCU Athletics passed the penultimate weekend of March trekking amidst the snowy trails in the beautiful Abruzzo region. The group of JCU students also had the unique experience to spend the trip with a local Italian family on their cozy farm.

Upon arrival on Saturday morning, the eager students indulged in a delicious traditional breakfast, and immediately set out on their first hike! The 4-hour adventure through the forest took the Gladiators along streams, waterfalls, and over snow covered mountains.

The hikers returned to find ready an elaborate homegrown and cooked four course lunch, that was both delicious and well earned. After warming up by the fire, the group was taught how to make their own loafs of bread, pizza crust, as well as cheese. That evening, the Gladiators visited the animals on the farm, with some courageous students taking the opportunity to learn how to properly milk a cow.

On Sunday, the keen students ventured out for yet another hike, barely beating the rain as they made their way back. After a final taste of local delicacies, the group headed back to Rome. It was definitely a weekend to remember!
