Top 5 Sushi Restaurants in Rome

December 2, 2016

Whether you've lived in Rome for years or you are just doing a semester abroad, pizza and pasta can only satisfy an appetite for so long until eventually you seek out something different for your palate. That is why I've made a list of some of my favorite sushi places in Rome! One or two of these suggestions have come from recommendations from friends; however, most I have tried firsthand. Buon appetito!

1.Sushi Jo (Via Nemorense, 39)

If you are willing to venture away from Trastevere for some good sushi, just a short walk from the Tiber campus across Ponte Garibaldi you'll find the 63 bus that will leave you close to Sushi Jo. It offers an all-you-can-eat menu; for about €19 you can get fast and high-quality service in a clean setting. They accept reservations and are located in an elegant, quiet residential zone of Rome.

2. Daruma (Via Pietro Cossa, 51)

This restaurant is known for good sushi! The prices are a bit higher, but the sushi will not disappoint. Plus, Daruma has several locations around Rome and is also on delivery sites such as Deliveroo that allow you to order sushi at home. It'll be at the Gianicolo Residence in just 35 minutes!

3. Temakinho (Via dei Serpenti, 16)

When you're looking for something a little different, I would recommend Temakinho, a Brazilian-Japanese fusion restaurant that has perfected both cuisines to an art. Most of their plates are entirely unique and always delicious; the price is a bit higher as well, but its unique flavors make it entirely worth the splurge!

4. Zuma (Via della Fontanella di Borghese, 48)

Perhaps Zuma doesn't need an explanation; however, for those who are unfamiliar with it, I'd suggest you save your pennies and give it a try. It offers top-quality (and world famous) sushi set inside of the beautiful Fendi Palazzo just off of Via del Corso. This restaurant is sure to offer an incredible culinary experience.

5. Jinja (Via Guidubaldo del Monte, 6/8)

Entirely innovative, at Jinja the interaction between customer and service is through iPads! Once seated, every table is furnished with its own iPad where you can place your order, which will arrive surprisingly quickly! There is a wide variety of Japanese and Chinese cuisine at Jinja and it boasts a clean, modern environment with an all-inclusive price of €20.
