Ciao. Mi chiamo Laura Pezzullo. Sono una studentessa italiana della John Cabot e sto studiando Comunicazione, con un minor in Imprenditoria.
Da quando ero piccola sognavo di studiare in un’università americana. Per caso, quando stavo facendo l’esame SAT qui in Italia, sono venuta a conoscenza della John Cabot. E così si è realizzato il mio sogno.
Dal primo giorno di Orientation ero al settimo cielo. Appena ho varcato i cancelli della John Cabot ho visto persone di tutto il mondo che si scambiavano idee in un clima super amichevole. Questa stessa atmosfera si manifesta anche in aula. Per esempio, nella mia classe di Public Speaking ci sono studenti dagli Stati Uniti, la Serbia, il Regno Unito, il Belgio, la Francia e il sud America.
Seguendo il sistema di istruzione meritocratico americano, i professori della John Cabot incoraggiano gli studenti di realizzare i loro sogni e a dare il massimo. Ma se uno studente ha bisogno di un aiuto in più, tutti sono disponibili: dai professori e i tutors agli uffici sparsi per l’Università. Per esempio, il professor Klausner, con cui studio English Composition, mi ha dedicato del tempo extra, fornendomi consigli che mi hanno permesso di migliorare le mie capacità di scrittura in inglese. Inoltre quasi tutti i lunedì mi sono rivolta al Math Tutoring Lab per avere un aiuto con le equazione lineari e la creazione di grafici. Infine, gli uffici dell’Università sono disponibili e aiutano a risolvere qualsiasi problema velocemente.
JCU è un posto abbastanza speciale anche per il modo in cui combina ambienti storici con aree in cui regna la tecnologia d’avanguardia. Infatti gli studenti possono scegliere se studiare sulle terrazze e nei cortili storici e silenziosi oppure nei laboratori di computer e nella bellissima biblioteca che è stata recentemente ristrutturata.
Hello, my name is Laura Pezzullo. I am an Italian student here at John Cabot, majoring in Communication, with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Since I was a child my dream was to study in an American college. By coincidence, while I was taking the SAT exam here in Italy I got to know John Cabot, and my dream came true.
Since the first day of Orientation I was overwhelmed with joy. As soon as I walked across John Cabot’s gates I saw people from all over the world exchanging ideas in a super friendly international environment. This atmosphere spills over into the classroom. For example, in my Public Speaking class, there are students from the US, Ukraine, UK, Serbia, Belgium, France and South America!
By following the meritocratic American system of education, professors encourage students to pursue their goals and push themselves beyond their comfort zone. But if a student needs extra help, everyone at John Cabot is available to help: from the professors and tutors to the many Offices all over the campuses. During my English Composition class, for example, Professor Klausner spent some of his extra time giving me hints and explanations which helped me improve my writing skills. I also turned for help to the Math tutoring center, where the tutors were super patient when I asked them to show me how to solve linear equations and graphics almost every Monday. Finally, the different University offices are very helpful in answering questions and providing help.
Something else that really makes JCU stand out is the fact that historic Roman architecture is mixed in with state-of-the-art technology. Students in fact can choose whether to spend their time studying in the quiet terraces and courtyards of in the ultra modern computer labs that are scattered all over the University, or in the beautiful recently refurbished library.
