Il mio stage presso la startup Dishes Only, che vende piatti di alto design, mi ha insegnato due lezioni: provare a fare le cose anche se sembrano difficili e gestire il mio tempo in maniera efficiente. Mi ha anche permesso di mettere in pratica le competenze e gli insegnamenti acquisiti in aula alla John Cabot.
Prima di tutto, devo ringraziare la prof. Antonella Salvatore e il Career Services Center della John Cabot perché è grazie a loro che ho ottenuto lo stage. In qualità di Marketing manager, mi occupo di strategie social media. Il lavoro varia ogni giorno: dallo scrivere un testo per il blog alla realizzazione di progetti specifici. Ma una cosa rimane costante: il desiderio di dare il massimo e raggiungere la perfezione.
Prendere l’iniziativa e dare vita a nuovi progetti è la parte del lavoro che preferisco. Uno degli ultimi progetti che mi sono inventata è una collaborazione con la famosa blogger Laëtitia Chaiulou, anche conosciuta come @parisianinrome. L’avevo contattata attraverso Instagram e ora stiamo lavorando insieme ad una nuova proposta creativa per Dishes Only, e ne sono entusiasta! Da poco ho anche preso contatto con la pluri-premiata food blogger Holly Becker e stiamo collaborando per pubblicare i prodotti di Dishes Only nel suo prossimo libro di cucina e per creare insieme una campagna di promozione brand. Ho avuto il coraggio di contattare entrambi queste bloggers e i risultati sono stati eccellenti. Non pensavo di essere in grado di raggiungere persone così importanti, ma ho scoperto che se non ci si prova, non si riesce.
Gestire efficientemente il mio tempo è l’altra cosa che ho imparato e che è diventato un aspetto fondamentale della mia vita. Avevo già imparato a fare multitasking quando, da piccola, iniziai a fare ginnastica ritmica (attività che ha impegnato metà della mia vita). A questo si aggiunse con il tempo anche la scuola d’arte (che ho frequentato per cinque anni). Ma non avrei mai pensato che sarebbe stato così difficile conciliare i miei studi universitari con il lavoro e la vita privata. Ora devo programmare tutto in anticipo. Oltre alla JCU e al mio stage, dedico il mio tempo libero all’arte, il design e lo sport. Ma tra tutto questo, la vita privata rimane la parte più importante.
Ho imparato le competenze e le conoscenze che uso sul lavoro alla John Cabot. Il corso di Business Communications con la prof. Favorite mi ha insegnato un linguaggio professionale e l’etica del business. Inoltre la prof mi ha anche aiutato a capire cosa voglio fare “da grande”. Il corso di Leading Multicultural Negotiations del prof. Belenyesi mi ha aiutato a capire come adattarmi al contesto lavorativo italiano, e questo per me che sono ucraina è stato utilissimo! Il prof. Signorini mi ha aiutato ad approfondire le mie conoscenze del Marketing e di osare a rompere gli schemi e pensare in maniera diversa. Infine, ho studiato Graphic Design con la prof. Schmidt e grazie a lei ho potuto perfezionare le mie competenze nella creazione di brand identity, che sto usando costantemente nel mio lavoro. A tutto quello che ho imparato in aula alla JCU va aggiunta la mia passione per l’arte e per il pensiero critico, cose che applico in continuazione.
Devo molto a questi professori, che sono sempre disponibili ad aiutarmi e ad offrire consigli. Grazie, John Cabot, per un’esperienza accademica eccezionale.
My current internship as Marketing Manager at Dishes Only, a startup which sells designer dinnerware and is based in Rome, has taught me the importance of being proactive and managing my time effectively. It has also opened up phenomenal learning opportunities where I constantly apply the skills and knowledge I have learned at John Cabot.
I was offered this internship thanks to Professor Salvatore and JCU's Career Services Center. I work on the social media strategy and implementation, and this requires a lot of time and effort. I dedicate around 15 hours a week to my internship, depending on the tasks at hand. Although my days are varied, from writing a blog post to working on a specific project, at the end, together with my manager who provides great feedback, I always strive for perfection.
Taking initiative and starting new projects is my favorite part of this job. One of my latest projects is a collaboration with the famous blogger Laëtitia Chaillou, also known as @parisianinrome. I contacted her through Instagram and now we are creating a new advertising concept for Dishes Only, which I am very enthusiastic about. Recently I also reached out to Holly Becker, an award-winning food blogger, and now we are working on publishing Dishes Only products in her upcoming book and starting a brand-promotion campaign through social media. I dared to contact both bloggers and it worked out. I didn’t expect to be able to reach out to so many inspiring people, but I discovered that getting out of your comfort zone and working hard will lead to success.
Time-management has become a crucial aspect of my everyday life. I had already learned how to multitask from an early age, when I became involved with rhythmic gymnastics (and dedicated half of my life to it), and to art school, which I attended for five years. However, I never imagined that balancing university, work and private life could be so challenging. I have to plan everything in advance to be thorough and accurate. Apart from JCU and my internship, I dedicate my free time to art, design and sports. Of these, my private life is the most important part.
Most of the skills and knowledge I am using now I owe to John Cabot. The Business Communication class with Professor Favorite taught me professional language and business ethics. Additionally, Professor Favorite helped me understand what I want to do in my future business career. Professor Belenyesi's Leading Multicultural Negotiations class helped me to adapt to the Italian working environment. Being a Ukrainian, this was very useful! Professor Signorini helped me deepen my knowledge of marketing strategies and taught me how to think outside the box. Finally, studying Graphic Design with Professor Schmidt has helped me master the skills needed to create a brand identity, which I am actively applying to my internship. Together with what I have learned in the classroom, my own passion for art and critical thinking are helping me to aim for the top.
I owe a lot to these professors, who are always available to help me and offer advice. Thank you John Cabot University for an amazing academic experience and a great faculty.
