Before I decided to apply for John Cabot University in 2021, I left my high school with a question that might sound familiar to my peers: What do I want to do in the future? I remember spending hours with my parents figuring out what I wanted to do. I didn't know what path to follow. I was only aware of two things at that time: an interest in Economics and a desire to enhance my English knowledge. Thanks to my mom, I discovered JCU, and I would describe it as almost "love at first sight."
Before starting my studies as an undergraduate, I had to attend the Enlus program, an intensive English course that provides you with a C1 certification at the end. After finishing Enlus, I decided that a bachelor’s degree in Marketing along with a minor in Business Administration would be the best fit for me.I had no idea what the American system was like, and at first, I almost felt like a fish out of water. It’s been three years at JCU, and after taking so many classes, I feel confident saying that much of what I’ve learned will be useful for my future.
Through JCU I was able to find my passion for digital marketing
What I appreciate most about my program is the variety of courses available, as they guide you toward the future and what it may hold. A course that has reshaped my aspirations was MKT340 with Professor Lanza. It was about digital marketing, and I found it very intriguing to learn how to search for trends and gain insights, as well as dealing with key digital elements of a company, such as a website or a social media page. I became interested in digital marketing so much that I started to consider it as a possible path for my future career.
In February 2023, my friend and I applied for a study-abroad semester. I had never been to the USA before, but thanks to JCU's Direct Exchange Program and its partnerships with universities worldwide, this dream came true for me. As a JCU student, the semester abroad program offered me an experience I couldn’t have imagined until I was actually there. Living the life I usually saw on social media finally became a reality. It was such a life-changing opportunity: meeting people from all over the world, watching breathtaking sunsets, and visiting the most iconic places while doing road trips. It was an experience that enriched my general knowledge as well as clarified my intentions for my future.
JCU allowed me to make my dream come true and study abroad in the USA
My decision to attend JCU was initially driven by the academic preparation it offers. Throughout my studies, I’ve had numerous opportunities to prepare for the workplace, from joining student clubs and events, to applying for internships, part-time jobs, and volunteering experiences. I am currently interning with JCU's Marketing Office, where I primarily collaborate with the social media team.
Besides the university’s location in the heart of Rome, what I truly enjoyed was its international environment, which allows you to go out of your comfort zone and expose yourself to new cultures. Thanks to JCU, I was able to meet so many people, some of whom I know will be lifelong friends.
