The Best Dessert Places in Rome

September 16, 2015

Fall is the time for cozy sweaters, long walks in the park, and cups of hot tea. This list is for when a cup of tea is not enough to satisfy your sugar craving.

Bar Pompi

Located a few steps from Piazza Di Spagna, Bar Pompi is famous for its incredible Tiramisù. You can pick a classic Tiramusù or try their strawberry, banana and chocolate, pistachio, nuts, or piña colada flavors. The bar also offers a variety of pastry, ice cream and chocolate desserts.
The main Bar is located in Via della Croce, 82 (30 mt from Piazza di Spagna), but you will also be able to try Pompi desserts in Via Albalonga, 7b, or in Via Cassio, 8.

I dolci di Nonna Vincenza

I dolci di Nonna Vincenza is a Sicilian bakery that some years ago opened its doors to the public in Rome. Just by entering the place, you can feel the sweet smell of Cannoli, Croccantini, Torte, and Marzapane. All these desserts are super sweet, but, hey, you only live once! Also, a nice highlight: all of the almonds and pistachios that the pasticceria use are home-grown.
You can find the store in Via dell'Arco del Monte, 98, a few steps away from the Guarini campus, and in Piazza di Montecitorio, 116.

Giolitti

Right by the Pantheon, Giolitti is one of the oldest gelaterie in Rome. Even if often crowded, this ice cream place is surely worth a visit, especially for its fruit flavors. You will find a broad range of berry flavors such as Strawberry, Wild Cherry, Raspberry, Watermelon, and even Pomegranate; citrus flavors like Orange, Lime, Lemon, Grapefruit, and more unusual ones like Pear, Green Apple, and Kiwi. If you wish, they will also treat to their homemade panna (whipped cream) for no extra cost!
Giolitti is situated in Via Uffici del Vicario, 40.

Laduree

French macarons have gained an incredible popularity during the past few years. The best place to try them is of course a French shop. Laduree has opened up branches all over the world, and in their Roman store you can pick your macaron flavor out of more than 15 different options, to then eat your sweets right in the café or take them home.
Laduree is located in Via Borgognona 4C.

Bakery House

If you are an American feeling homesick, check out Bakery House. And if you’re not American, but love sweets, that’s the place for you too! Just like in Alice in Wonderland, pastries say “Eat me!” And trust me, it is absolutely impossible to resist such a call. Among their treats: delicious red velvet cupcakes, fluffy pancakes, French toasts, chewy brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and a number of other muffins and cakes!
The American pastry heaven is situated in Corso Trieste, 157 b, and on Via Riano, 11.
