mexican students in Rome, jcu mexican students, study abroad in Rome, JCU student spotlightMy name is Jimena; I’m from Mexico City and I am a currently in my last year at John Cabot University. I am majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business Administration. Since I was two years old, my family and I have been blessed with the opportunity to live in different countries around the world, which also allowed for us to travel quite often through Europe and Asia. By the time I was 8 years old, we were traveling from Hungary to Italy every six to eight months – that is when I knew I wanted to live in Italy at some point in my life. Thus, when my college counselor told me about John Cabot University, I applied to study here in a heartbeat.

John Cabot University is located in the heart of Rome. Within 10 minutes of the university, you can take a short walk and find yourself in St. Peter’s Square, or in front of the mesmerizing Colosseum after a 30- minute walk. The neighborhood in which we are located, Trastevere, is full of small cozy restaurants, cafes, churches, and piazzas where one can sit down and chat with friends or read a book.

The university itself does everything they can to make a student’s transition as smooth as possible. It has apartments for students to live in that are all located close to the main campuses. The campuses are easy to access by public transportation so there is no need for a car while studying at JCU.

John Cabot University has students from all over the world, so you may end up living with and studying with someone from Russia, Kenya, Italy, Holland, Bulgaria or Bolivia. Even though we all come from different parts of the world and miss our friends and family from back home, the people you meet at JCU become your family while you live in the Eternal City.

head-shot
