My name is Andrei Marcu and I am a Romanian student majoring in Marketing at John Cabot University. This is my second semester here, and I can truly say that John Cabot really makes a difference. From the moment I stepped on campus I could feel the positive energy coming from the people working and studying here. Everyone is friends with everyone.
As a student that transferred to JCU from another American university, I have seen that JCU offers countless opportunities to students. The diversity on campus is truly amazing; students come here to study from all over the world. JCU also provides opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom. My student assistant position in the Marketing and Admissions office has allowed me to gain practical marketing experience, and as a marketing degree seeker, I think there is no better way that a university could prepare me better for the real world.
John Cabot is really a university that makes you feel secure and ensures that you are ready to deal with real life and real problems. The Center for Career Services gave me the opportunity to participate in the Career Fair, where I had the chance to practice my interview skills by conducting a few informal interviews with real employers. Those informal interviews led to formal interviews with some of the companies from the Career Fair, which may lead to a job. JCU has already allowed me to overcome my fear of formal interviews, and has made me confident that I will be able to find a job quickly after graduation.
I have only been at JCU for one semester so far, but JCU has given me countless opportunities to enrich my academic experience. The small-sized classes have been perfect for me, allowing me to get to know my professors and receive personal attention whenever I encounter a problem. As a non-native English speaker, the Writing Center and the Tutoring Center have been my best friends. The professors and students who work in these centers have been a huge help every time I had trouble understanding something and was unable to ask my professor. JCU even gave me an opportunity to stand a few feet away from His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Nobel Peace Summit!
I am amazed at how much John Cabot has helped me as a student in only one semester, and I am looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the future.
