My name is Chiara Mazzotta and I graduated from John Cabot University in May of 2017, with a major in International Business.
I started my first work experience immediately after graduating with an internship at yourCFO, a financial consulting company, and then an internship at KPMG, one of the "Big Four" of the world's leaders in the consulting and auditing market. I was offered both opportunities through John Cabot University’s Career Services Center, which allowed me to meet the representatives of both companies at the Career Fairs organized in March and November.
As of today, I am Staff Accountant at the KPMG Audit Division in Bologna. As a member of the audit team, I constantly put into practice the technical knowledge and skills acquired in class at John Cabot, but carry out all the tasks assigned to me with precision and autonomy. The skills I have developed at JCU aided me in complying with deadlines, organizing my time efficiently and managing multiple tasks at the same time. JCU classes certainly helped prepare me to face a dynamic, stimulating and competitive professional environment like the one in which I currently find myself.
The advice that I would give everyone is to participate actively in student life, and be sure to take advantage of all the opportunities the university offers: seminars, lectures and, in particular, internships and job offers. In fact, it is never too early to start your professional career. Only by doing so will you be a step ahead when it comes time to graduate.
