Life After Graduation: Angelo Cerqueti, Class of 2016

February 20, 2019

My name is Angelo Cerqueti and I graduated from John Cabot University in 2016 with a major in International Affairs and a minor in History.

John Cabot has been an incredible launching pad for my career. My professors were all experienced and knowledgeable, and the administrative processes of the University were run smoothly - and this is just a small part of how the University contributed to shape the young professional I am today. I also got the chance to participate in the Going Global study abroad program, which led me to study at the prestigious University of Miami for a semester.

After earning my Bachelor of Arts degree, I decided to continue my studies in Geneva, Switzerland. There, I obtained a Master’s Degree (cum laude) in International Relations and Diplomacy. In the meantime, thanks to what I had learned in Rome and in Geneva, I was able to intern at the World Health Organization (WHO), and then I moved to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) at the UN office in Geneva.

Currently, I work for the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System, the only independent organization that supervises the UN system and is tasked with evaluating the operations of the various UN agencies. My job title is Communication Officer, and I mainly deal with improving the efficacy of the administrative and communicative procedures in the UN machine.

Without the preparation and education that I cultivated at John Cabot University, I would have never been able to manage a job like this at such a young age. JCU gives you the right mix between theory and practical knowledge, which is exactly what is needed in the job market, and is different than what the Italian university system offers.

Student life at John Cabot is extremely stimulating: clubs, trips, events, activities, athletics. This, together with the incomparable academic preparation, work in synergy to shape young professionals who will really make a difference in the future.
