One of the favorite JCU traditions in our Russian speaking community is our tradition to meet for a dinner at the beginning of each semester. The gloomy weather did not change our cheerful moods. We had many guests that evening representing many Russian-speaking countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Dean Mary Merva and Vice President Andrea Giummarra opened the dinner with a welcome speech. This semester we celebrated the academic achievements of our students, including those who are on the Dean’s list. Representatives from Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Embassies attended the event as well, which was a great honor for John Cabot and for our students from these nations.
As usual, the night was amazing! We had plenty of delicious dishes: salad Olivie, pelmeni, varenyky, and pirozhki. The Russian-speaking community would like to thank our great staff members of the Tiber Café- all of us felt like we were back at home. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and friendly, and new students were welcomed into our big family. They were excited about our tradition of Russian dinners and are looking forward to next semester's dinner.
This was a memorable evening full of delicious food a great company.
