John Cabot University recently hosted its second-ever Admitted Students Day, celebrating the incoming Class of 2024! This year, the event was held virtually on Zoom. A total of 79 accepted students tuned in from countries around the world, including Bolivia, Ecuador, Italy, Namibia, Poland, and the United States--a virtual representation of the diversity and ingenuity of John Cabot University’s degree-seeking students.
The Admissions Office caught up with Elena Cecamore and Gioia Kunst, two incoming students who participated in Admitted Students Day, to hear their take on the virtual event and to find out what excites them most about studying at John Cabot University.
"I had been eagerly awaiting Admitted Students Day to finally show JCU to my mom. When I got the email saying it was going to be streamed online due to Covid-19, my initial reaction was to be upset, but then I decided to make the best of it, got my mom and I set up cozy in my bedroom, and logged onto the computer for the event!
"Until that point, my mom hadn't gotten the chance to physically visit JCU or listen to any of the staff or faculty members, so it was fun to see her so interested in where I will study for the next few years. I liked being able to talk with her during the presentation.
"We really appreciated how the speakers answered all of our questions and explained how JCU works in detail. My favorite part of Admitted Students Day was definitely when we got to talk to the student ambassadors. They gave us the insider's perspective and helped us deepen our knowledge of student life.
"The reason I decided to attend John Cabot University is because of the possibility to minor in a subject completely different from my major and because of its multicultural environment, which Italian universities do not have. Participating in Admitted Students Day only reinforced my interest in attending the University.
"I am truly looking forward to starting at JCU in the fall. I'm excited to meet my fellow classmates and take part in the numerous activities the university offers. I'd love to join one of the athletic teams and some of the clubs, and I cannot wait to start my International Affairs courses."
"JCU hosted a wonderfully organized virtual Admitted Students Day. I learned so many important things in order to better prepare myself for my first day at JCU, such as how the Center for Career Services offers so many different internship programs, and how the University has lots of clubs and organizations and offers cultural programs. There are so many different activities offered that it’s hard to choose!
"My favorite part of Admitted Students Day was definitely the Q&A with the current students because it really helped me understand certain topics better, like how to join Student Government, for example.
"I don’t think I could be any more excited about starting at JCU in the Fall of 2020. I plan on majoring in psychology. When I heard that JCU was going to be offering a major in Psychological Science beginning in the Fall of 2020, I knew it was meant to be. I think I most look forward to meeting new people and making new memories. My fellow admitted students and I have already planned so much for when we will finally meet at the university. I can’t wait to start this new journey and learn new things."
