A Day in the Life of a JCU Student

If there's one thing a JCU student does every morning, it's grab a good cup of coffee. That is an integral part of the Italian daily routine. And when you study at John Cabot, you too will adopt many of the local habits and customs. But what does a day in the life of a JCU student really look like? Probably a little something like this.

Morning Coffee

A JCU student typically wakes up, gets ready for the day and heads out for their morning jolt. If she has a morning class, she will get to walk through the streets of Trastevere just as the world around her starts waking up. Neighborhood cafés will be setting up their chairs, turning on their espresso machines, and greeting the first customers of the day. Church bells will be ringing, signaling the early morning hour, and locals will be walking their dogs through Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. She then makes her way to Caffè Settimiano. She sees one of her professors, stops to chat, and goes in to order an espresso at the bar. Her friends meet her there, they greet each other with a cheerful kiss-kiss, and head to their first class together.

Lunch at Tiber

A little later in the afternoon, she decides to walk over to Tiber for some lunch between classes. She uses her meal points at the Tiber Cafe and grabs some pasta and makes her own salad at the salad bar. After her meal, she chills with some friends and classmates for a bit before heading back to Guarini to get some homework done in the library.

Study Time

The library is a great place to study, but it's also a fun place to meet up with friends. A typical JCU student usually heads there to get some work done during the day between classes. She spends some time catching up on required reading and gets started on an upcoming paper. Every once and a while, she steps out into the Lemon Tree courtyard for a study break. She grabs a snack from the vending machine, sits on a bench, soaks in some sun, and talks with whoever walks by: friends, classmates, professors, and staff members.

Dinner with Roommates

After finishing all of her classes for the day, it's time to head home and catch up with her roommates. They share any news and tell each other about their days. Before they know it it's dinner time, so they decide to go out for some pizza at a place down the street. They enjoy a late-night meal, and stroll through the streets of Trastevere together, weaving through the groups of tourists and locals enjoying the vibrant night life. After a perfect gelato dessert, they head home, and get ready for bed, so they can wake up the next day and do it all over again.
