Choosing to study abroad in Italy opens so many doors for personal and academic enrichment. Attending university in a culturally rich city like Rome makes your courses come alive, and may even influence the path you follow after graduation. Of course, there’s no better way to tell if attending university in Rome is right for you without truly experiencing the JCU way of life first hand.

During their Open Houses, John Cabot University invites prospective students from across the globe to experience campus life and see what unique opportunities await them in Italy. Read on to discover why visiting your prospective campus is so important, and how to make the most of your visit.

Get a Taste of Campus Life

Prospective students are always curious about what life is like on the John Cabot University campus. Like most aspiring undergraduates, they’re interested in learning about housing, food, school atmosphere, and the campus’ proximity to other places in the city.

Our Open House participants quickly discover that John Cabot’s Guarini campus is ideally located in the heart of Rome, in the ever-vibrant Trastevere neighborhood. Student residences are conveniently situated nearby, integrated into the friendly Roman community next to shops, restaurants, and family homes. Immersed in local culture - yet never far from their classrooms - students at John Cabot University have plenty of opportunity to mingle with locals and enjoy an authentic taste of Italy.

Meet Current Students

Typically, a JCU campus tour is led by one of our current undergraduates. This is a great opportunity for prospective students to ask questions about the neighborhood, classes, or about life at John Cabot in general - and receive genuine feedback from someone with firsthand experience attending university in Italy. On these tours, prospective students get to tour buildings, classrooms, and common spaces in person and get a real sense of what it’s like to go to school here.

Sample Real Lectures

While campus life, housing and community are extremely important considerations for prospective students, one of the most crucial question marks for many applicants is what actually goes on during class-time. At the John Cabot U Open Houses, participants can put those questions to rest by attending sample lectures led by our expert professors. This insider access really helps to clarify what a liberal arts education is all about, and how it feels to be a part of a personalized, small group learning experience.

Ask Questions

While email or getting in touch via social media are always options, attending an open house is a much more effective way to get answers to any questions you have as a prospective student. On a campus tour, you can ask those questions (and others that arise along the way) directly to university staff, current undergraduates, and even professors. There’s truly no better way to get an authentic impression of the enrolled student experience.

Explore Rome!

While some students may have visited Italy before, for others, the Open House will be their first time stepping foot in the country. When they’re not discovering the campus, visitors can enjoy exploring our beautiful and historic back yard - the city of Rome. After all, Rome is a big part of what makes the John Cabot University experience so unique. Not every university student can say that they attend school just a few steps away from the Colosseum, the Pantheon and a host of other 2,000 year old structures!
