Enrolling in John Cabot University as an undergraduate student is one of the best decisions you can make. Another great decision is getting involved in activities, whether they are on or off campus!
Luckily, at JCU, there are plenty of resources to help you get settled in, discover the Italian culture, and explore your new "home" country. One of these resources is Student Services. They offer a wide-variety of activities and trips, including hands-on activities that will encourage you to really get to know your host country through its history, culture, food, and nature--all alongside your fellow JCU students.
As a degree-seeker, you might think you have an endless amount of time to explore Italy. But, your time at JCU will go faster than you can imagine...so why not start getting involved right now?
You probably already love Italy. Why else would you choose to study and live in the heart of Rome for four years? But, you might only have a basic knowledge of your host-country. By attending some of JCU's Trips and Activities, this knowledge and love for Italy will only grow. Take a hiking trip to Abruzzo and discover the beautiful natural reserves, parks, mountains, and coast-line of this region. Attend a night at the opera and enjoy world-class music, and culture that goes back for centuries. Go on a weekend trip to the Veneto region and take in the beauty of Venice canals and architecture. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will only love Italy more than you did to start with.
Student Services encourages all students, whether study abroad or degree-seeking, to take advantage of these opportunities to enrich their learning experience while making memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. But, you will not be making these memories alone. You will be bonding with fellow JCU students from all over the world and making life-long friendships. Going on a trip is the perfect opportunity to get to know students you might not meet otherwise. Just go. Talk to people, and try something new. You won't regret it.
Traveling or trying new activities gets you out of your comfort-zone. When you're outside of your element, it gives you the opportunity to explore and discover your surroundings as well as learn more about yourself. Maybe you have always chosen to travel by plane, but now you know your preferred method of travel is train or bus! Maybe you thought you were a bad cook, but after an Italian cooking class you have a newfound passion and skill for it! Maybe you were always afraid of heights, but after a JCU hiking trip, you have conquered this fear. Whatever it might be, going on a JCU trip or attending one of their wonderful activities will help you conquer fears, and insecurities, and ultimately it will teach you so much about who you really are.
