If you’re interested in STEM, you might consider taking math and engineering courses when you study abroad in Rome this summer. What better way to become inspired than to immerse yourself in all the history and engineering that Ancient Rome has to offer?

At John Cabot University, we offer engineering and math courses for STEM majors during two five-week summer sessions. Here, students will have the opportunity to earn credits towards their degree, speeding graduation along, while participating in an unforgettable international experience.

Read on for more reasons why studying engineering at JCU is a great choice for you!

1. Immerse Yourself in the Marvels of Ancient Roman Architecture

All roads lead to Rome – certainly, a term you’ve heard before – speaks to the status of Roman engineering at the height of the ancient Roman empire, which stretched from north-western Europe to the east of North Africa towards Egypt. Roman engineers were able to plan ahead and build 29 military highways that would facilitate commerce and military support.

When you decide to study engineering in Italy, you’ll be inspired by your fellow Roman engineers of the past, as you walk through the heart of the eternal city of Rome. You'll also be fascinated by the marvels of ancient Roman architecture from the aqueducts, and how they supplied water to the Roman empire to the Colosseum, which seated 50,000 spectators.

3. Achieve More in Your Academics and Travel

At JCU, you’ll have the opportunity to spend time seeing and traveling Italy, all the while studying, gaining experience, and earning credits towards your degree. Our engineering courses, specifically, are designed to provide you with an optimum learning experience, through collaboration with major engineering programs in the US which are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Since the curriculum is taught by visiting summer engineering and mathematics professors from major universities, you can transfer your credits to your home university without any worry.

In addition, classes run from Monday to Thursday, so you’ll have weekends free to roam in Rome. With plenty of opportunities to participate in leisure activities, explore nearby cities and countries, your learning experience will be an adventure to remember.
