JCU Class of 2025: A Glimpse Into Life at an American University in Rome

May 30, 2025

If you're thinking about studying abroad in Italy, there's no better place to start than Rome, at John Cabot University, an American university in the Eternal City. This May, we celebrated the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2025, which offered a powerful snapshot of what it means to be part of this international community.

A Global Celebration in the Heart of Rome

With students from over 70 countries, our university is a global hub of culture, creativity, and academic excellence. The Commencement Ceremony reflected that diversity, with 185 graduates from 26 different nations, showcasing the university’s commitment to preparing global citizens.

Set against the backdrop of Rome’s timeless beauty, the ceremony was both inspirational and personal. The event was held at Villa Aurelia, a 17th-century villa overlooking the city, which emphasized our strong connection to our Roman setting.

Messages of Inspiration

This year’s Commencement Speaker was Alberto Angela, one of Italy’s leading intellectuals in scientific and historical outreach. As a renowned paleoanthropologist, author, and RAI-TV host, he has dedicated his career to making science, history, and art accessible to the public through acclaimed documentaries and best-selling books.

President Franco Pavoncello also addressed the graduating class with deep pride. This marked his 20th Commencement Ceremony, during which he celebrated several university milestones, including record enrollment, the launch of a new M.A. in International Affairs, and the opening of JCU’s New Campus, now home to the JCU Center for the Arts, a vibrant hub for student creativity.
